But surely she would have known that before choosing (yes, it is a conscious choice) to get pregnant and give birth?

In that situation one can only assume that she would have made that choice knowing that she could rely on the benefits system to pay for her children and that was OK by her.

Being on benefits =/= scumbags.

Not every young mum is fortunate enough to have a supportive family to look after their kids while they work.

Just say you came from a background though where the father works, and that's just how it is? The dad provides, earns enough to put the kids through private/boarding school and/or mum/nannies look after them.

That sort of background is not that uncommon.

Do we not all applaud our players when we hear about the extra training they put in? The extra mile they go to and then the visits to hospices, schools etc outside of their daily hours?

If you put a little bit more in you get more out. Working to your job description and hours only is a public sector rule isn't it?

One conclusion I have drawn from this thread is that Busters shit doesn't stink.

Re: Career-driven BERKS...
Start a pension for your kids rather than buying mountains of rubbish for them or giving them a wad of cash to blow on booze when they are 18 and you will give them the best gift for after you have left the world.

They could retire at 55 without having to pay anything in themselves. Problem I see is that parents are do desperate to give their kids the stuff they didn't have but miss this major one off.

Th problem i find with the new age management is they dont think for themselves and are happy to follow what comes down to them with no question even if its bad.

Willtell 10:31 Thu Dec 4
Re: Career-driven BERKS...
It's a good point Buster but most people that leave before their kids are up and arrive back after they've gone to bed do so because they commute on 2+ hour journeys to live in houses they can afford outside of London.

That's not a workaholic - that's a commuter that can't get the same salary locally or a house near his work for affordable money. Different problem entirely...

I do laugh when I see the facebook comments of "full time mummy!", seeming to indicate that mother's like my wife (who works for a living) are part-time mummys?

invariably they are the benefit scumbags

Comma 12.42

Unfortunately there is also another reason why both parents now work - the addiction to consumerism.

The cost of living, when compared to the rate of wage increases, is a national disgrace - but id guess that a significant amount of the debt people are in is due to the craving for new cars every year, another 60 inch TV, two holidays a year etc etc.

Is this sort of behaviour particularly prevalent in BERKSHIRE, then?

Very good.

Except you haven't considered time spent travelling, sleeping, eating. Seriously eats in to your 108 hours.

I think the fact you're thinking about being a good father is a bloody good start, you'll be fine.
Good luck with it

Yep I think that is spot on. When mrs s and I have kids (nailed on gingers) there will be a need for us to both work to afford everything. As I said I'm bricking it!
